Condition Treated: Back & Hand Pain

Experience:

I came to Aktiv@Medanta for a checkup as I was having severe pain in my back and my right hand. I had already been undergoing physiotherapy for the past 15 years, but it had proved to be ineffective. At Aktiv@Medanta, under the wonderful care of my physiotherapist, Ms. Poonam Hooda, the rehabilitation process has been fantastic and my condition has seen an improvement of more than 80%.

Condition Treated:  Slip Disc & Back Pain

Experience:

I had a slipped disc in 2012 and was suffering from pain in my lower back and other related issues. I could not indulge in any physical activity as the pain used to get aggravated. I visited quite a few medical institutions and consulted senior spine orthopedics at these places. I also tried physiotherapy, homeopathy and some Ayurvedic medicines but all this provided only temporary relief. I came to know about AktivHealth viewing a TV program wherein, a discussion on AktivHealth along with some patient interviews was being conducted.

I visited the AktivHealth center in February 2015 and after assessing my ailment, a plan was formulated by Dr. Mueller and his team of professionals. Mr. Akshay Arora, the physiotherapist who was assigned to me, was extremely patient and constantly motivated me to adhere to the stipulated regimen. The focus was on increasing overall core strength and not on offering a temporary ‘quick fix’ pain killer approach that most of the other institutes resort to. The approach followed at this center is significantly different as here; they use different techniques for balancing the body and also focus on posture correction. I got a lot of relief and can now pursue different sporting activities as there is a considerable increase in core strength which has instilled a lot of confidence in me about my physical health and capabilities.

Condition Treated:  Cervical Spine & Disseminated Neuropathy

Experience:

I came to AktivHealth in a state wherein I could not walk, sit, eat, bathe or even carry out other routine activities without being helped or supported by a dedicated attendant. This condition had developed due to diabetes and the cervical spine, which in turn, has affected my nerves. A biopsy carried out earlier at Mayo, U.S.A., had revealed that my nerves were getting damaged. Fortunately, regeneration of the nerves had started and very limited progress was made in the rehabilitation center where I underwent physiotherapy apart from being subjected to a strong dose of Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) and protein. On returning from the U.S.A., my family members were on the lookout for a place where I could be treated effectively since my ailment required specialized care. I scoured the net and came across the name of AktivHealth. We met Dr. Mueller and Dr. Pooja and after due consultation and deliberation, we decided to get myself treated at AktivHealth.

I was entrusted under the care of Dr. Pooja, the physiotherapist, and what followed thereon cannot be expressed in words. Right from the initial diagnosis to the analysis of the symptoms, the conduct of Dr. Mueller and his staff was an epitome of professional competence. Dr. Pooja ensured that my discomfort melted. By her dedication, motivation and resolute attitude, I could be pushed to new heights and with every new stage, we strived to attain higher levels. Today I can sit, drive, use the laptop independently and walk with the help of a walker which was unthinkable before my treatment at AktivHealth commenced. Condition Treated: Displaced Navicular

Experience:

My father, Mr. Gurdeep Singh, was a patient at AktivHealth and he recommended it to me. I first came to the center in December 2014. I had been a regular long-distance runner for two years and was suffering from stress fractures and foot injuries. I wanted to know the root causes.

At AktivHealth, I was diagnosed by Dr. Rana Chengappa with displaced navicular, biomechanical imbalances and lack of muscular strength. Earlier, I went to an orthopedic who simply diagnosed me with stress fractures and over-pronation. Instead of looking for a solution, I was encouraged to stop running!

At AktivHealth, they have a process that is detailed, well-explained, effectively taught and progressive. My physiotherapist has done a phenomenal job, explaining the process, detailing it and training me on how to do it on my own. Given that I was only in Delhi for 2 weeks, this has been invaluable.

Now, I see and feel a tangible difference in my core strength and biomechanics. The progress is motivating and with this training, I expect to keep the momentum in my improvement. I have learnt to understand what is wrong and how I can fix it; being trained to be self-sufficient on fixing the problem is a major thing”.

Experience: 

I heard about AktivHealth from my children, Aseem and Ayesha Dosaj, who highly recommended Dr. Gerd Mueller. Also, my doctor, Dr. Sachin Yadav’s (Podiatrist), suggested that I should visit AktivHealth to seek treatment for the pain in my right heel. I was suffering from plantar fasciitis of the right foot. So I visited the center in October 2014.

Condition Treated:  Stroke & Post-Surgery Shoulder Rehab

Experience:

I learned about AktivHealth through an article in the Hindustan Times. We (my wife and I) came to the center in October 2013 as my neurologist advised me to go for physiotherapy. I had a minor stroke in 2008 and also had a frozen shoulder.

Before coming to AktivHealth, I went to another hospital for physiotherapy but did not continue as there were too many patients being attended by too few physiotherapists. At AktivHealth, I have a dedicated physiotherapist for 1 hour who only attends to me. It offers very high-quality levels of care.

Now my gait has improved and my energy levels are higher. My shoulder, which had undergone a reverse shoulder replacement, is now fully functional. At AktivHealth, the treatment approach is very different.

AktivHealth has given me a new lease on life.

Condition Treated:  Back & Neck  Pain

Experience:

I came to know about AktivHealth while surfing the net. In April 2014, I visited the center for the first time seeking treatment for my neck and back pain. I was suffering from chronic cervical syndrome and lumbar insufficiency.

The rehabilitation process at AktivHealth is more holistic. My whole body was assessed and treated thoroughly. The procedures were explained to me and outcomes were par excellent. In terms of quality and care, nothing can be compared with the holistic and enriching care which is offered at AktivHealth.

My health has been at its best in the last few months. I can’t ever thank Dr.Gerd Mueller and Dr.Abhishek Kumar enough. At AktivHealth, they go to the root cause of a problem and don’t just focus on the symptoms alone. Their focus and effort are directed toward overall rehabilitation of a patient and attention is given throughout to every minute detail that would enable a person to walk back on the path to recovery. Experience:

I was suffering from pseudoparkinsonism (Parkinson’s disease) and was feeling depressed about my ailment since nothing seemed to be working in my favour. I had visited a big multi-speciality hospital in Kolkata but the diagnosis was not conclusive thereby leaving me in the lurch. I learnt about AktivHealth-Medanta during a workshop in Medanta hospital, Gurgaon where I had gone to seek a second opinion. It was then that I decided to visit the centre. From the time I stepped in, I could sense the professionalism and the ambience also made me feel so comfortable and positive. I realized what was in store for me. The entire team of experts were thoroughly patient-centric, and the dedication was there to see. My plan was designed in a most scientific manner and a regimen was worked out by Dr. Angja, the Physiotherapist assigned to me. I thoroughly enjoyed associating with her. She was very professional and concerned about my well-being and her counselling proved to be most useful and effective.

Undoubtedly, it was a very good experience. The treatment coupled with exercises which were religiously monitored, helped me to gain back my confidence as well as posture correction which has induced a feeling of wellness in me. My activity levels have improved, and I feel so energized. The set-up at Aktiv@Medanta is modern keeping in tune with the requirements of one and all. Condition Treated: Muscle Strengthening & Speech Training

Experience:

I came to know about AktivHealth through my doctor, Dr. Surbhi Suden. She brought me to the center on 19th June 2014. My legs were so weak that I could not walk.

Before coming to AktivHealth I had treatment at another hospital. They did try to help but there was no visible effect, so I moved. Since coming here, I feel much better, and there is a definite improvement in my condition. Dr. Gerd Mueller (MD) and Dr. Rana Chengappa treated me very well and their words were very reassuring. The staff and my physiotherapist, Ms. Aditi Midha have been attentive and caring all the time. I liked the western approach and the state-of-the-art facilities at AktivHealth. Ms. Aditi worked very hard to improve my condition.

Now after my treatment, I can stand straight and walk a little. I think doctors should go out and educate patients more about the importance of physiotherapy because it can change people’s lives

Condition Treated:  Spinal Cord Injury

Experience:

He (Mr. Kevin) had almost lost his will to continue his treatment and we would have gone back to our country (Nigeria) with a certain feeling of dejection and despondency if his physiotherapist, Ms.Aditi Midha had not been so motivating and a big pusher. She always encouraged him to go on. It was only her who made all the difference. She always told him, ‘You can do it. You have to do it. You have to get well and walk again’.

We would also have gone back had his condition remained the same. But we stayed back as he was improving a lot at AktivHealth.

Aditi’s inspiring words and tremendous efforts kept him sailing and the difference is here for all of us to see. He was fully paralyzed for 5 years in Nigeria and there was no hope that he would stand on his feet again. We have been to a couple of facilities in our country taking sessions twice a week but we did not get much improvement.

We came to India primarily for his surgery but were told that he needed only physiotherapy. Then, one doctor (Dr. Surbhi Suden) referred the name of AktivHealth to us and that is how we landed at this facility in April 2014. We liked the facility, its caring and friendly staff, and high standard equipment. The process has been very scientific and systematic. The results have been beyond our expectations. We would like to stay in India and continue his sessions but have to go back to Nigeria. Nonetheless, we will follow the home exercise program (HEP) given to us by AktivHealth.

The quality and care are fantastic at AktivHealth. Now, he is able to walk again and that is truly magical. The facility is very good with all the advanced equipment in place. We would like to thank Dr.Gerd Mueller, Dr.RanaChengappa and Ms. Aditi for bringing about all these positive changes in his condition.

Condition Treated: Shoulder Pain

Experience:

I was suffering from severe shoulder pain and came to AktivHealth in January 2014 on the advice of a friend. The meticulous approach and the details have gone into by Dr. Mueller and his team helped in the analysis of my ailment and I was diagnosed with tendonitis.

The physiotherapists responsible for my rehabilitation program, Ms. Nidhi Arora and Mr. Akshay Arora, chalked out a strategy and the care is taken by them was absolutely stupendous.

Every aspect was addressed and there was a lot of diligence from their side which made me feel so ‘well taken care of’. I have recovered and developed strength in my body which has given me a lot of confidence about my physical abilities. There is no doubt that the quality of treatment in AktivHealth is above par! I wish the center the very best of luck in all their future endeavors.

Condition Treated: Torticollis

Experience:

We came to know about AktivHealth through two patients, Ms. Renu Munjal, and Ms. Anita Walia. In March 2014, I took my son (Kamran) to AktivHealth for the first time to get his neck and its movement checked. He suffered from a medical condition known as torticollis.

Prior to coming to AktivHealth, we visited a few centers but the results were negligible. The rehabilitation process at AktivHealth is very different. Ms. Aditi Midha (Kamran’s physiotherapist) is just wonderful. She is patient, friendly and has really been able to help him.

Now, his head is straighter and has greater range of motion. There is an overall improvement. All our previous treatments had a western approach; however, we have seen better results at AktivHealth.
