Joint Pain

Joint pain can result from trauma, abnormal pressure, degeneration or inflammation affecting any part of a joint — including cartilage, bone, ligaments, tendons or muscles. Joint afflictions as above can result in pain, discomfort, inability to carryout daily life functions, deformities, etc. Joint pain is called arthralgia and when there is inflammation it is labelled as arthritis. The causes for the joint pain could be the natural degeneration process, injury or trauma resulting in deformity, abnormal biomechanics/pressures. Thus, age, physical activity level, medical conditions affecting joints and family medical history are all risk factors of joint pain.

Although any joint can be affected but wrists, elbows, shoulders, hip, knees and ankles are more commonly affected joints.

Joint pain can be mild, causing soreness only after certain activities, or it can be severe, making even limited movement, particularly bearing weight, extremely painful. Joint pain can range from mildly irritating to debilitating. It may go away after a few weeks (acute), or last for several weeks or months (chronic).

Our Solution

At Aktivhealth, our medical doctor will do a detailed evaluation of the patient – assess the type, intensity of pain, understand the cause and medical history and then plan the treatment suitable to the individual. The goal of the treatment will be to reduce pain and inflammation, preserve joint function, strengthen muscle of the joints, stabilize the joint and improve the biomechanics and range of motion. The Treatment Plan may include manual therapy or active therapy, heat or cold therapy, electrical nerve stimulation or alternative treatments or medications.

Muscle Pain

Muscles help us move and help in many daily life bodily functions. Diverse types of muscles perform different jobs.

With sedentary lifestyle, the combination of poor muscular fitness and persistent bad posture causes many people to complain about tension, chronic discomfort and fatigue in the neck-shoulder, in the head-neck and the lower back and limb regions. Mental Stress can add to tension, chronic discomfort and fatigues as well.

Other causes of muscle / myofascial pains, are certain medicines, inflammation (e.g. myositis), abnormal mechanics, nerve irritations and other systemic conditions such as some infections/fevers that can affect muscles.

Our Solution

At Aktivhealth, our medical doctor will do a detailed evaluation of the patient – assess the type, intensity of muscular involvement, understand the cause and medical history and then plan the treatment suitable to the individual.

In most cases, muscle pain can be treated very effectively by a combination of manual therapy and active training of the affected muscles. Because these muscle patterns have been ‘learned’ and engraved over time, it is important component of therapy and training to re-train these patterns and restore a normal natural muscular balance. Improved muscle strengths, endurance and balance help in efficient, pain free and fatigue resistant daily life functional activities,
